Announcing the Growing Works of Art Contest

October 28, 2019 By vtplt

Arbor Day is a day to plant, nurture and appreciate trees and the difference they make in our lives. To help us spread the word about Arbor Day, we invite Vermont students in grades 1-8 to participate in the celebration by creating a piece of tree art and sharing a tree story.

The Growing Works of Art Contest is hosted in partnership with UVM Extension and the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, & Recreation.

Celebrate the connections we share with trees by helping your students and children create a work of art that showcases fond memories enjoyed because of the trees in our lives. The 2020 Growing Works of Art contest theme is “Trees are superheroes: share your tree story of why we need trees.”

Contest Deadline: March 13, 2020

Contest Prizes:
One winner will be selected from each grade (1-8) and receive:

Artwork and stories featured online
A Vermont State Parks punch pass ($30 value)
Featured on WCAX’s “Across the Fence” television show

We invest in the teachers who invest in our children

Research shows that people who enjoyed meaningful experiences in the outdoors as a child, are able to think critically and act responsibly on behalf of the ecological, social, and economic values of our forests and other natural resources as adults.

VT Project Learning Tree achieves its mission by training educators in Project Learning Tree®, the time-honored environmental education curricula developed by the American Forest Foundation.

VT Project Learning Tree relies on the support of every facet of the community--businesses, individuals and government--to accomplish its mission.
